The title and the concept of Ulrike’s first Solo CD refers to Marcel Duchamp’s book “the creative act”: If we give the attribute of a medium to the artist, we must then deny him the state of consciousness on the aesthetic plane about what he is doing or why he is doing it. all his decisions in the artistic execution of his work rest with pure intuition and cannot be translated into why he is doing it. Each title has its origin in a work of art and meditative experiences in India, something of great importance to the composer. The Forest Song is an hommage to the artist Louise Bourgeois: “One night I dreamt I was becoming huge. My fears vanished in complete silence.” Le Miroir is dedicated to late filmmaker Chris Marker, with whom she was befriended. Sélavy combines electronic elements with piano playing and is the beginning of a series of Solo CDs featuring fabulous guest musicians.
