December news

In December we release the film score Überleben. The calligraphic artwork for the album, produced on white vinyl, was created by Nicole Reuther and graphic designer Sven Grot. This is the second release in our new series of film music and art at Blue Pearls Music, following The Eerie World of E.Z.

The film Überleben tells the story of a renowned cancer researcher who is himself afflicted by a rare form of cancer, one he knows all too well. Composing the music for this film was its own journey, as the story is deeply personal. Rather than emphasizing emotional themes, I aimed to capture the sounds and internal echoes tied to the immense machinery of a hospital. Yet, the element of being personally moved remains unavoidable. Überleben is a powerful and emotional film about hope, its cost, and the light at the end of the tunnel. I hope to mirror this in my music. Please enjoy the music. Watch the film it on Arte.

And also in December my dreamlike audio drama featuring texts by Mascha Kaléko is nearing completion. The premiere broadcast is scheduled for 19 January 2025 on RBB – stay tuned! As always, I delight in taking the audience on as-yet-unknown journeys through sounds, songs and words. I’m thrilled to have an exquisite cast and to feature wonderful recordings on the celeste, harmonium, and piano. More information will follow in January. Here’s a sneak peek: there will be wonderful duets with the singer Winnie Brückner.
