October unfolds under the sign of the piano, and the arrival of a new keyboard, ready to shape the sound of upcoming live concerts. Alongside, I’m in the final stages of mixing a still-secret cover version and mastering the music for a new radio play series with Bayerischer Rundfunk.
After wonderful recording sessions with the incomparable Helene Erben from the vocal ensemble Sjaella and cellist Johanna Helm, we are now mastering the music for a remarkable new radio play series by Bayerischer Rundfunk (BR2), music that could just as well stand entirely on its own.
Meanwhile, preparations for the 2026 jubilee concerts of the Rainbirds formation 4.0 have begun. Old scores, notebooks, tour diaries, and press folders reappear from my archives – a true journey through time. We start in December, to perform Call me easy, say I am strong, love me my way, it ain’t wrong at ZAKK in Düsseldorf, the second of the early Rainbirds albums, revisited with gratitude and a touch of wonder at how music continues to travel through time.
A special highlight this season were the recordings with Lina Maly, a young singer with an incomparable voice. This collaboration will stay with me for a long time and perhaps it’s only the beginning of something more. Unfortunately, we can’t reveal what project this was just yet, that secret will unfold in winter. Stay tuned. It will be worth the wait.
